Whitening Toothpaste

By Jason Myers

a lot of people will experience teeth discoloration over the course of their lives. The process can be made even worse by smoking and drinking red wine. One of the resolutions that many people are turning to is Whitening Toothpaste.

It's important to know how whitening toothpastes work so that you can get the best use out of them. These toothpastes get rid of superficial blemishes and discolorations from the enamel, while brightening the teeth. When used together with other teeth whitening products such as flosses, boosters and mouthwashes, their effectiveness is improved. A transformation in the color of the teeth can be seen if whitening toothpastes are used twice or more times a day.

Many over the counter whitening toothpastes have abrasive ingredients which polish the surface of the tooth, a bit like skin exfoliants. They may be unable to entirely bleach teeth like an in-office treatment, but they are very effective in removing the film of pellicle on teeth, which is what causes the discoloration, leaving teeth cleaner and better looking. Some products use substances to help dissolve or break down stains on the teeth, while others make use of hydrogen peroxide as a bleaching agent.

If you have very delicate gums or teeth, then be more cautious when choosing and using a whitening toothpaste. This is for the reason that tissues in the mouth can become irritated by the whitening and abrasive ingredients found in the toothpaste, and this can be extremely painful. If you experience gum and tooth abrasion, then it may possibly be better to avoid this method completely.

Nearly all dentists will recommend whitening toothpastes following a bleaching treatment. The toothpastes can help significantly in getting rid of deposits from the teeth and in putting a stop to any new discolorations from setting in. All that is necessary is a twice-daily use of whitening toothpastes to slow down or completely|totally) prevent the discoloration of teeth. - 29879
