It wasn't too long ago that if you wanted to get whiter teeth, it meant a costly visit to the dentist. Time has changed, however, with home tooth whitening kits swamping the market, offering potent and quick results with appropriate use.

At home tooth whitening is a great convenience to many who do not have a lot of time to spend going to the dentist and who are also on a low budget. Home teeth whitening kits can be acquired for a minimal price, and still be quality products.

These kits can be aacquired in the form of strips, trays and brush applicators. Whitening strips contain a gel component and are placed on the front of the teeth to lighten them. Whitening trays are filled with a gel and kept in the mouth for a few hours a day, sometimes overnight. Brush applicators are dipped into a bleaching gel and then brushed onto the teeth. These products work through oxidizing agents, such as peroxide, that help get rid of discoloration on the enamel of teeth, and other ingredients that help break downthe substance that causes yellowing of the teeth.

These products address discoloration in much the same fashion as whitening procedure at the dentist would, but with a smaller level of peroxide. It is an low-priced method, and many of these products do work as hyped with regular application for a significant period of time.

Depending on the whitening selected product, the whitening can occur over different periods of time. The initial time you will usually witness a difference is after fourteen days, but some products yield results sooner than that. How long the teeth remains white depends on the user's oral hygiene and consistent application of the product. Most home teeth whitening kits necessitate that they be applied on the teeth for more than 30 minutes daily. - 29879
