Is Dr. Tung's Tongue Scraper Any Good?

By Melissa Donnelly

There are a variety of tongue scrapers being sold out there. Some made of plastic, some are made of rubber, and some are comprised of metal or stainless steel. While I could't claim that I have owned them all, Dr. Tung's tongue scraper is the most well built one that I've ever had. It is what I continue to use today ever since I bought it a few years ago. I will give you several reasons for this.

To begin with, the contour of Dr. Tungs tongue scraper is a U. This gives it the flexibility to turn and bend, molding to the form of your mouth so that it reaches the back of your tongue with simplicity. You will find that several competing tongue scrapers either don't fit into the rear of your tongue, or make it unpleasant, but Dr Tungs tongue scraper accomplishes this with ease.

The soft exterior of Dr Tungs tongue scrapper moreover makes it simple to scrape the bacteria in the rear of your tongue (this is what's the cause of bad breath) without damaging your tongue's cartilage. The tongue is a vulnerable organ and the wrong apparatus can damage the outer surface of your tongue by making it bumpy and inflamed.

The grips on Dr Tungs tongue scraper are a nice addition too. They mostly make it really easy to apply pressure to the device, let you modify based on where you are in your mouth (the back of your tongue is mostly wider than the tip).

Most dental professionals will tell you that regular use of a tongue scraper is a lot more beneficial than something like Listerine, which actually ends up drying out your mouth and makes it easier for microbes to grow in the back of your tongue. A tongue scraper removes these germs and immediately attacks the cause of bad breath instead of masking it with a minty odor. - 29879
