There has been some recent controversy about over the counter teeth-whitening products. This is due to poor experiences that some people have had. This is mainly contributed to a very small percentage of people who will always have problems with any dental product. For this reason, it has been suggested that everyone receives a simple exam before being prescribed a product. This does not mean that they are not affected or safe. This simply means that some of these people spend so much money fixing their teeth that this needs to be avoided.

Anything you buy over the counter is going to have less of an active ingredient then something from the dental office. Many intelligent people will assume that you simply need to increase the dose. All of the packages that you find on the market will have very specific instructions. You can always be sure that you will have the fewest problems if you follow the directions carefully.

We're very lucky to have the American Dental Association and the Food and Drug Administration looking over our shoulders to make sure we're using safe products. Otherwise, the industry could sell you anything and you would simply have to deal with the effects. Scientific research and studies are done before any product is released onto the market. These are very strict procedures. This is why some products are developed and it takes up to five years for them to be released to the general public. With this in mind, you can use almost any over the counter teeth-whitening product safely as long as you follow the directions.

In addition to having soft tooth enamel, their other genetic conditions that can cause people to have problems with teeth-whitening products. In particular, their gums will bleed.
