The Different Teeth Whitening Options

By Taylor Hawk

It doesn't matter how much you care for your teeth and how nicely you look after them, over a certain period of time they will not look as white as they used to. Others who do not visit a dentist regularly will have even worse teeth, and whitening teeth that are really bad will not be easy at all. Besides the fact that it is good for your teeth, having them whitened looks much better too. Let's have a look at the teeth whitening options that are available to you.

There are a variety of teeth whitening options, but the three that are used most often are bleaching with a dentist, in home bleaching, or teeth whitening toothpastes or strips. Use of the whitening toothpastes or strips is the most hassle free and cost effective option available. All that needs to be done with these products is to brush the teeth with the whitening toothpaste or apply the whitening strips. Some of the best know brands on the market are Starbrite and Colgate Simply White, and the top strips are the Crest Whitestrips.

It should be noted that people with very yellow or seriously damaged teeth shouldn't use the strips and toothpastes. If there is only minor yellow and the teeth are in good condition, its okay to use these products. There is another effective product that's called GoSmile that does a great job, but is slightly more expensive than other products.

Another very effective teeth whitening option is bleaching by a dentist. The process usually requires two steps done on different days. The sessions usually take about two hours each which can result in a cost that is much higher that the other options. The big advantage to this method is the dentist will do a great job that is much better than the job of strips or toothpastes with results that are long lasting and stunning.

The bleaching by a dentist tooth whitening option is perfect for people that have bad teeth that have been neglected for years and for the ones that have the money to pay for an excellent job of tooth whitening. People that use this method won't have to return for touchups and will enjoy a job that was done right the first time.

The other teeth whitening options you have is the in-home bleaching. This is where you buy your own bleaching products, many of which are available over-the-counter. What it typically consists of is you applying the gel to your teeth, leaving it for a few seconds, and then you will carry on as per usual.

As you can see it is a very simple, straight-forward procedure, but the only disadvantage is that you will have to do it everyday for a certain number of days. It will depend on the product you buy as not all of them are the same when it comes to how much you use, how long you have to use it, and how exactly it works.
