By Hugh Reilly

Taking care of your teeth, gums, and the remainder of your mouth, including replacing chipped teeth is what outlines dental care. It's common to see somebody impacted by dental medical conditions due to carelessness and lack of data of good oral cleanliness. It is commonly declared that healthy gums and teeth are important to keep your full body system healthy and sound. Absence of correct care and a regular check up with your dentist could lead to many illnesses like tooth rot, gingivitis, dental plaque, periodontal sickness, mouth odor, etc.

Symptoms & Prevention

Cavities - The real cause of rotting teeth is an excess quantity of acid in the mouth. This is related to sugar bugs, those that often eat sweets without brushing shortly after. First, a soft spot shows up on the tooth, that may lead to an early hole if not dealt with. Cavities will commence with a light brown color on the tooth, and gradually become darker.

Prevention: be certain to brush 2-times daily, morning and before bedtime as well as after you eat. Floss daily (a number of times), I know it's a chore but it is your smile we are speaking about here. Consult a dentist for a periodic cleaning and exam. Attempt to follow their suggestions. Make sure retainers, dentures and other appliances are clean and don't skip their counseled cleaning processes.

Gingivitis is swelling of the gums, while periodontal illness is the difficult stage of gum illness, which attacks the gums, bone and round the teeth. Symptoms include: Distended gums, non-healing sores, swollen gums and bleeding gums. Best way to prevent gingivitis is to brush your teeth twice daily. Softly floss the teeth once each day.

See your dentist for the best products for your present condition. Children are loads more subject to dental issues. They are subject to eating chocolates, candies and candy and therefore get simply influenced and suffer with tooth rot and other issues. So it is vital for parents to understand the basics of good dental care and guide your children reasonably. These few simple steps can keep you and your family from dreadful discomfort, health hazards and will help us to keep smiling all through out the day. - 29879

Whitening Your Teeth the Safe Way

By Daniel Murphy

Whitening your teeth is a very fashionable thing to do, and is perfectly safe if the procedure is carried out correctly and by a person who knows that they are doing. The thing to watch out for is that the treatment that you use does not do any damage to your tooth enamel. Accidentally removing tooth enamel is not only very undesirable, but it will have the opposite effect of whitening and will cause your teeth to go yellow.

Using a hard tooth toothbrush to bleach your teeth is not recommended either. This is because you can actually cause damage to your gums if you are too vigorous, especially when using a hard bristled toothbrush. There are literally hundreds of tooth whitening products on the market, but with any of them you should use a soft bristled brush for a gentler clean, and one which won't cause any damage to your gums.

When you go looking for a teeth whitening agent you should read the list of ingredients carefully and avoid anything that looks or sounds like an abrasive. Abrasives can cause permanent damage both to your teeth and to your gums and therefore are to be avoided at all costs. Most products use safe chemicals rather than abrasives, and these work well. If you are in any doubt regarding abrasive content, check with the store staff, or the manufacturer.

Safety first; that's the key; get a brilliant white smile, but don't take any risks with your dental health. It's always a good idea to chat things over with your dentist; after all, he/she is your dental health expert. They may offer a teeth whitening service and if they do, it would be well worth using it to get best and safest results. Otherwise, over the counter teeth whitening gel also works great.

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that is becoming more and more popular because it really does improve your smile, and therefore your looks too. Generally speaking, teeth whitening is not an unduly expensive procedure, and if you talk to your dentist, he/she can tell you what they charge, or, if they do not do it themselves, they will be able to recommend somewhere that you can go.

Should you feel that the cost of using a special clinic, or even your own dentist, is going to be too expensive, there are plenty of over the counter treatments on general sale. You'll find them on sale at a pharmacy, or the pharmaceutical department of your local supermarket, or of course online. You may have to try a few different brands before finding one that you feel is best for you.

One piece of advice though. Don't go for the cheaper products. You may well discover that some of the cheaper brands contain abrasives, and bearing in mind what we advised earlier, give these a miss. Instead you should look for the products that contain safe teeth whitening chemicals. Using this sort of product will not only get you the best results, but it will also be your safest option; and even if you have to pay a little extra, it's well worth it to guarantee a safe result.

Choose a safe teeth whitening procedure and you are sure to come out smiling and showing off those lovely new white teeth. It is important for you to look after your teeth. As an adult your real teeth cannot be replaced, so look after them! - 29879

By Andrew Jacobsen

Cosmetic dentistry has become so common place in our world today that it has become extremely noticeable when you notice someone with yellowing teeth! Everyone seems to be having whitening or veneers treatments.

Cosmetic dentistry falls into a specialized category and cannot be performed by a dentist with regular medical school training of 5-7 years. He needs to specialize in cosmetic dentistry just as a general practitioner who wants to become a gynecologist would need to specialize in gynecology.

You will also discuss the possibility of luminescent veneers - as thin as a fingernail, requiring no v-shaped chiseling of your natural teeth as preparation but with it's own particular pros and cons. You will take into account the replacement of amalgam fillings with porcelain or bonded composites, bridges and/or crowns bleaching treatments and implants (which are artificial tooth-root replacements. Color correction of all your teeth may require replacing all bridges, crowns, fillings etc. In fact, you may have to consider starting from scratch.

For a total smile makeover and to take the best advantage of going to all the trouble of having your teeth straightened, whitened and looking marvelous - a good cosmetic dental surgeon will work hand-in-hand with a maxo-oral facial surgeon. He will see that any jaw alignment problems are corrected, over-bites or under-bites and look at the basic skeletal bone structure of the entire mouth and jaw. Believe it or not, problems in this arena can cause problems from the severe pain of trigeminal neuralgia to muscle spasms and teeth clenching.

Having found a good cosmetic dentist, you will no doubt have molds taken of your teeth. From this, the cosmetic dentist will be able to work with a professional dental mechanic in providing you with the most suitable crowns, veneers, bonded composites or implants to suit your coloring and desires.

Good cosmetic dentistry should also include the input of a maxo-oral facial specialist who will be able to correct structural defects of the jaw and bite. Not as simple as you thought? You're right! Tread carefully and utilize cosmetic dentistry in all it's fullness for the best results. - 29879

Advantages Manual And Electric Toothbrushes Have Over Not Brushing At All

By Adriana Noton

My electric toothbrush is what I use at home. When I am away from home I pack my manual toothbrush. Whichever I use I make sure I brush well. I do not want a tooth problem and I do not like a lecture from my hygienist. Some advantages manual and electric toothbrushes have may assist in your decision on which to use.

The less expensive choice of course is the regular old fashioned manual toothbrush. If finances are an issue stick with the traditional brush. If you travel regularly you find the manual one is easier to pack.

You can take the electric toothbrush without the charger if you charge it up and it will run for a few days before needing to be recharged. Of course you can always pack the charger if you like. If you are going to be gone for longer than a week you will need to take your charger with you.

Of course the most crucial part of brushing is not which brush you use but the time you spend brushing. Even if you have an electric toothbursh this does not mean you have done a better job of brushing than if you used a manual toothbrush. Some might think they do not have to brush as often because they use an electric toothbrush. No you still have to brush after meals, in the morning, and before bed.

I like however the fact that I can stimulate or massage my gums with my electric toothbrush. Of course I can do this with my regular toothbrush but it seems like my electric brush has an advantage in this regard. When you massage or stimulate your gums you get the blood flowing which promotes healthy gums. As far as the amount of pressure is concerned a manual toothbrush is better when determining the amount of pressure you apply.

Too much pressure on your teeth will cause your enamel to wear down. Tooth decay is prevented by your enamel. Once you wear that down you open up your teeth to decay. You can control the pressure better with a regular tooth brush than an electric tooth brush because you cannot judge pressure as well with the electric type.

When teaching kids how to brush you will want to start them off on a manual brush until they can handle an electric type. I am sure you learned to brush your teeth with a manual brush. And regardless of which type you choose you want to floss regularly. This is most people's least favorite part of tooth care but you need to do it.

You do not have to floss all your teeth only the ones you want to keep is what my hygienist used to say. And you do not want to run your tooth brush over your teeth right after drinking soda, regular of diet. The acid in the soft drink will wear your enamel down when you run your brush over your soda soaked teeth. Dental care is an important part of your overall health, some people may consider the flouride treatment as it will also protect your teeth for a longer period of time. All in all, it is important to make use of whichever tooth brush you choose. - 29879
